NPS as Wifi Radius with .local domain

I'm trying to test with NPS being radius for my wifi. Everything is working fine if i ignore the certificate warning.

I then wanted to try to add a public certificate to the NPS, then i ran in to the problem that our local AD domain is a .local. Is there anyway to get around this? Maybe split DNS and use a public name for the NPS server?

I don't want to use a internal CA because it's not only domain joined clients that need to connect.
