Windows Server 2008 R2 IKEv2 VPN - Windows Phone 8.1 EAP authentication problem (Reason code: 22)

Hi,

I'm currently trying to connect my Windows Phone 8.1 DP device to a Windows Server 2008 R2 via IKEv2 and Username/Password-Mode.

I followed the tutorial at:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd637790(v=ws.10).aspx

I successfully installed the server certificate to the phone and I can guarantee that I've supplied the correct credentials to the phone's connection settings.

Anyway, the connection is aborted due to reason code 22 pointing out that the server is unable to autheticate the client because the client is requesting an EAP authentication mode that is unsupported by the server.

I've configured the PEAP in the NPS using EAP-MS-CHAP-V2 because this is the only EAP type that makes sense when not using a client certificate...

The phone itself just tells about Error Code 812, which is a very generic error code. I can guarantee that the user account which I'm trying to login is allowed to access the VPN remotely. I previously used L2TP/IPsec with Pre-shared key on Windows 8.1 successfully.

There are nearly no settings available in the VPN implementation of Windows Phone 8.1...

Is there something I've missed? I searched already hours for a solution to my problem. Propably there is a tutorial for my scenario? Should I switch to Windows Server 2012 R2?

Looking really forward for your answers...

Patrick
